Located about 130km from the coast of Western Sumatra, these islands were discovered by surfers in the 80’s and then further pioneered in the 90’s. <ul>
<li><strong>Rainy Season</strong> (December – February): This is downtime in the Mentawai Islands. Most boats head in for repairs and rest.</li>
<li><strong>Early Season</strong> (March – May): This time of year the weather begins to swing more in favor of the islands.</li>
<li><strong>High Season</strong> (June – September): Many say these months are when the islands are most consistent with good winds and good swell. These months often bring some of the biggest ground swells the Indian Ocean can offer.</li>
<li><strong>Late Season</strong> (October – November): As the high season months but with fewer people. Traditionally this time of year, the swell size can be a bit smaller although still consistent.</li>
